Apparently, it's been awhile since I posted a blog... yeah, it's been about three months. Sorry about that.
So. For the past three months, I've been doing a lot of web work. I had two months straight of Flash/Actionscript. Actionscript is a coding language like html and css, but it's harder. And it's stupid. And I hate it. But I actually did end up making some pretty nifty stuff. You can check out my first final project here. I'm really proud of that one. Here is the website that I am working on currently which began as my Web Project project. It's not flash or actionscript, it's PHP... another coding language. This one was pretty easy, I guess. It just took a freaking long time. Here is the link.
I had a lot of fun designing how these sites would look, but it is another thing entirely to actually construct them. Let's just say I am glad to be finished with my web classes. After four months straight of them, I'm not really in the mood to do any more websites for awhile.
I was also in a 3D modeling and animation class for two months. We used a computer program to construct 3-dimensional objects like a helicopter and a pirate ship. I can't really show you any of those projects because they're all in weird formats. But I can give you the link to my final project- a Vespa commercial. I didn't construct the vespas, but I did construct the set, add the lighting, direct the camera movements, and cut the film together. I apologize for the music. Here's the link.
So anyhoosiers, now I am in a digital video class where I have three months to make some kind of film... about really anything I want. I have so many ideas! Maybe you can suggest something. It has to be at most 5 minutes in length. It can be almost any format - documentary, music video, how-to, dramatic piece, narrative, you name it.
Anyway, that's me for right now.
Promise I'll try and update more.

Whoo, I need to get better about this...
Hey everybody. Wow, I'm such a slacker. Sorry I haven't posted anything in such a long time. It's time for an update!
OK, so last we left off in Typography and Motion Graphics. Two months ago I had Motion Graphics Project, which was just an expansion on the things that we learned in Motion Graphics. All of the animations that I made can be found here. I suggest you look at them all. Haha. I made them all from scratch with love. So. Check them out.
Last month I had a web design class, so we had to create and design our own websites. Mine is here. Go ahead and click through the links- you can see some of the stuff that I did. Make sure you visit the final projects page and click on where it says "my final project!". Again, all from scratch.
I also had psychology last month, which was really fun. I have nothing to show you from that class, though.
Hmm. Well, I've been drawing some more. I suppose I could show you some of my sketches?

Love, Riley

Some new artwork and whatnot
Here are my two final projects for advanced computer graphics. The first is supposed to be a "life meter" for a game (I call it my eternal life meter). The second is a full-page editorial illustration. Basically, the teacher gave us a bunch of news article titles to choose from, and we had to pick one and make a full-page illustration from it. I chose "Cupid Shooting Spree Leaves Dozens Infatuated".

So that was my January class. I also had Geometry and I did fine there. Last month, I had Physics and Digital Audio Design. That was a fun class- I got to create my own songs and sound effects. Now I'm in a motion graphics class and a typography class. Here's my first Typography project. The idea was to illustrate something with words instead of imagery.

More to come. Love to you all.

About time I posted something...
Hey there, dudes. It's been a little over two months since I've posted anything and I think that that's tooooo long! So, here's an update on what's happened so far.
I left off in Designing Computer Graphics and Networks and Operating systems back in November. Since then, I have taken Design and Art Theory (basically, a traditional art class- no computer work) and Algebra in December, and this month am taking Advanced Computer Graphics (the next level up from Designing Computer Graphics) and Geometry.
Last month, I had a lot of fun in DAT, my art class. I got to really express my artistic side through my traditional art background. We did a lot of drawing and sketching, which is pretty much what I'm best at. We also used conte crayons and paints, and for the final project we had to create and ad campaign for a product which we created, using only the materials that we had been given and no computers. Here are some of the things I created in DAT.

I did really well in Algebra. My final grade was a 104.
This month, I'm taking ACG, which is a challenge, but I'm learning a lot. We've had to create a realistic-looking object using only a program called illustrator... then use that object in a magazine-ad layout. Now we've made a video player interface (Basically just the frame that goes around the video when you watch it on the computer) and are working on a "power bar", which is one of those meters in a game that tells you how much life or power you have left. Anyway, here is my object, my layout, and my video player.

So, that's what's been going on down here. I still come home every weekend, but my friends here yell at me for missing out on the fun stuff they do here. Oh well. I'm glad I get to spend so much time at home.
I promise I'll keep more up-to-date with this blog!
Love to you all.

Second month update! Finally.
So, hello everyone. I started my second month (and second semester) a few weeks ago. I have Designing Computer Graphics and Digital Storytelling. So far we've learned three new programs and done several really interesting projects. We've designed personal logos for ourselves...
We've made a set of icons...
We've made a video...
We've done a podcast (which I can't display here, because it's basically a digital radio show), a photo slideshow, and done about thirteen tutorials for the computer graphics class. I've had to learn Adobe Illustrator and utilize it several times. But I'm having fun. More later. Enjoy the video!

Last week of the semester!
Alright, so as you all should know, my school has a really wacked-out schedule. As such, I had my final exam on Tuesday and, if you look at the post below, got a score of 107 on it, wooooo. Today was also my last day of English comp, so we handed in our research papers (mine was about how theatrical Broadway productions were better than their cinematic counterparts) and left in half of an hour. Class from 9 am to 9:30 am... what could be better?
So anyway, I'm moving on Sunday to a better apartment in the same complex. I'm at home right now, spending today and tomorrow morning/afternoon here until I have to go pack to O-Town and finish packing. Then on Monday I start my Designing Computer Graphics class... and my Networks and Operating Systems class. I'm going to be totally lost, but what is school for anyway?...
Well. That was my last week of the semester. So far, I have a 4.0 grade point average. Hooray for me!
Love to you all.
